  • Meet with your academic advisor to ensure you are on the right track
  • Consider Study Abroad programs which can vary from several weeks to year-long.
  • Make a personal connection with a faculty member.
  • Look into and utilize the academic support services like the Pirate Academic Success Center, University Writing Center, or visit a reference librarian and Joyner Library.
Career Planning
  • Visit Career Services.  Take inventories to find out what types of careers or majors would be best for you.
  • Explore possible majors and learn about the careers associated with them.
  • Learn about internship opportunities.
Getting Involved on Campus and in the Community
  • Become involved in extracurricular activities
    • Visit OrgSync to explore volunteer opportunities and for information on student organizations.
    • Participate in fun and free events sponsored by SAB.
    • Become involved in your college or major organizations.
    • Explore Greek Life opportunities.
    • Participate in programs by Campus Recreation and Wellness or play intramurals.
  • Take Care of Yourself
    • Take care of your physical well-being by eating regularly and getting enough sleep. Also get physical exercise at the Student Recreation Center, get involved in intramural sports, or take a group exercise class!
    • Visit the Center for Counseling and Student Development.
    • Realize that the sophomore slump is normal.  Identify if your schedule is too demanding or if you are over-committed.
